Donation to enable the replacement of five out-of-warranty bullet-proof vests
NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA (April 5, 2016) – Long-time Newtown Square resident and business owner Bruce Wilson presented Newtown Township Police Chief Chris Lunn with a donation of $5,000 on Friday, April 1, 2016 on behalf of Wilson Allen. The donation comes just in time to replace five soon to be out-of-warranty bullet-proof vests for the department’s 17-officer department.
While in the township building last week, a casual conversation led to Wilson discovering a need within the department that he was happy to support. After speaking with Chief Lunn, Wilson learned about the 5 soon to be out-of-warranty vests and that a donation of $5,000 would cover the cost to replace them.
“The Newtown Township Police Department enjoys a very good relationship with our residents and businesses. We are fortunate that there are people in the Township like Bruce Wilson who step forward and provide the assistance to make purchases for equipment that falls outside of our normal budget. Five officers will directly benefit from this donation,” stated Chief Lunn.
“I’ve lived and worked in the township for a very long time and have benefited by the police department’s protection,” says Wilson. “I’m thankful for their service and am happy to assist in keeping our officers safe. I’d also like to help promote goodwill with local law enforcement authorities and serve as a role model for other area businesses who have found success in Delaware County to do the same.”
