Summary:

Wilson Allen is hiring a consultant / business analyst to work on operational and strategic consulting projects across the US and Canada.  This role is a key part of the team working on a range of projects including:  Law firm technology transition projects (CRM, Experience, Time & Billing, Client Intake, risk and conflicts; Time and Terms.)  Operational consulting engagements including: business as usual staffing assessments; business process specific engagements; master data and information flow engagements.  The role will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out business process and data flow reviews to understand how a specific process or system operates to inform recommendations on improvements;
  • Carrying out interviews with senior stakeholders to understand their information needs, operational requirements and strategic goals and to be able to categorize the findings from interviews, interpret the results, provide insights and make recommendations on system, process, data and behavioral change;
  • To carry out reviews of existing systems and capture information about “as-is” functionality within the system and how it relates to the firm’s overall information state, make recommendations on system, process, data and behavioral change;
  • To run system transition advisory projects helping the firm document their requirements, identify potential vendors and run the evaluation process;
  • Advising clients on how to implement change management, training, and communication programs to ensure maximum adoption for their selected marketing technology
  • Support the management consultants within the practice on their strategic engagements
  • Analyzing key statistics and reviewing function specific reporting to help shape data -based recommendations

The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of business process and business analysis ideally from a law firm background.  The role is not necessarily technical in nature, but the role must have had experience working with most, if not all, of the following systems:

  • Time and billing
  • Client intake
  • Risk & Conflicts
  • Matter Management
  • CRM & Experience

Key Functions:

  • Provides a good understanding of the Legal Technology space and the solutions and services Wilson offers, value proposition, use cases, key questions and benefits of each product/service to enable early-stage lead conversations
  • Build relationships within the clients they serve and to act as a liaison for other parts of Wilson Allen
  • Work on allocated projects in the areas of responsibility.  It is expected that there will be a requirement for some travel but that the role will be predominantly based from home.
  • Work efficiently in the firm’s systems to ensure all project artifacts are appropriately completed
  • Provide assistance to the Project Management Office in order to scope projects including describing project phases and guiding solution / product leaders and architects to develop/implement high-level implementation plans to deliver the solution
  • Work efficiently in the firm’s Smartsheet project management system to ensure that the company may maximize your availability for client work
  • Consult with and assist in client-related issues including collections and complaints as needed to preserve positive customer relations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a law firm or other professional services firm role with a business process focus
  • Preferably a proven track record working with core systems and supporting the business from a business analysis perspective
  • Experience with working with professional users e.g. attorneys, accountants, in terms of being able to identify their business needs and to translate them into requirements
  • Proven track record of working across support departments e.g. marketing & business development or finance, in terms of being able to identify their business needs and to translate them in to technology and data requirements
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to influence, network with, and engage leadership roles at our clients
  • Efficient time management and organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce CRM (and desirably project management tools such as SmartSheet).
  • Ability to travel, work at client sites, or other WLS offices
